JoAnna Ness

JoAnna’s interest in addressing community needs with a positive attitude and practical training led her to IU in Bloomington for a Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit

Management, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Philanthropic Studies at the IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. Along the way, JoAnna gained experience working with a wide variety of foundations, including the Community Foundation of Noble County, Parkview Noble Hospital Foundation, Indiana University Foundation, and Smithville Charitable Foundation.

JoAnna first joined the Steuben County Community Foundation in 2017 as a summer internship. In 2018, she joined the staff full time as the Communications Director, now responsible for supporting the Steuben County nonprofit community and highlighting the many ways SCCF donors make a positive impact. In the next few years, JoAnna looks forward to engaging the community in more conversations with nonprofit leaders and through providing capacity building trainings. JoAnna is also responsible for supporting SCCF’s youth philanthropy group – FIST or Forever Improving Steuben County Together.

In her free time, JoAnna enjoys traveling, gardening, baking sweet treats, and spending time with family. Her favorite part about Steuben County is the many hiking trails and nature preserves that can be enjoyed by the public!
