The Steuben County Community Foundation (SCCF) has received a $200,000 gift from the Wood Family for community grantmaking. This gift coincides with Lilly Endowment Inc.’s recent GIFT VII initiative, where Lilly Endowment will provide $2 for every $1 contributed to Steuben County Community Foundation’s unrestricted endowments during the matching period, October 1, 2018, through December 31, 2020. Therefore, the Wood Family gift will have triple the impact, increasing the Spirit of Community Fund at SCCF by $600,000. The Spirit of Community Fund is guided by the SCCF Board of Directors and is used for grantmaking, community projects, and to support nonprofit organizations in Steuben County.
“The Wood Family is pleased this gift will provide flexibility and support for the Steuben County Community Foundation to respond to the needs of the community for many years to come,” shared John Wood.
“We are honored the Wood Family trusts SCCF to manage the gift for the benefit of the Steuben County nonprofit community. And we are overjoyed this gift gives us a large step towards fulfilling Lilly Endowment’s recent $500,000 matching gift opportunity,” said Jennifer Danic, President and CEO of SCCF.
