Past Donor Testimonials

Jim Simons
Mr. Simons has spent his entire career teaching math at the middle, high school and college level. It is a subject that has run in his veins for years and he wants to share that passion with others who have a similar interest. However, it was his greatest loss that prompted him to create a scholarship fund for the benefit of students getting their degree in math.

His son Darrell, who at 14 years old was transitioning from childhood to manhood, died suddenly. In the days, weeks, and months following a fire in the Simons home in which Darrell died, the people of this community, their church and the schools reached out to the family in support. Darrell's parents, Jim and Lynn Simons, wanted a memorial for their son that would say "Thank You" to the community. Hence, the scholarships that are awarded are their gift.
