What is an Endowment?
A donation that provides permanence. The principal is never spent, it's invested- the earnings provide the grant dollars that support community projects and programs. A community foundation holds, invests, and administers a collection of these gifts called Funds. The Foundation uses professionals to invest and manage these assets. An outside, independent audit is performed each year to confirm proper accounting practices and IRS compliance.
