Meet the team

Chris Snyder

Vice-Chair, Board of Directors
Scholarship Committee

“I think it’s important for people to give back. I’ve been very fortunate, and I think it’s my responsibility to pass that along to the next generation so they can have a chance for a great life.”

Chris Snyder has played an active role in serving the Steuben County community for most of his life. He was born and raised here and attended and graduated from Fremont High School in 1979. He then attended and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from IPFW in 1983. After college, Chris worked for Hook’s Drugs, which owned drug stores in numerous Midwest locations. He and his wife, Tina, decided to move back to Steuben County so their two children could go to school and grow up here.

Chris joined the family business, Snyder’s Culligan Water Conditioning in 1987, which was started by his grandfather initially. He has been working for the Town of Fremont for the past 20 years, serving as the Town Manager for 11 ½ years and as the Fremont Town Court Judge for the last 8 ½ years. Through his work here, he came in contact with the SCCF for various economic development and community projects. When he was asked to join the SCCF Board of Directors 8 years ago, he gladly accepted to help try and make a positive difference in the community.

He hopes the SCCF can help people of all ages giving them a chance at a quality education, improved job training opportunities, and a better quality of life going forward. Chris thinks Steuben County is special because the people of this community are working hard to make it a better place to live, work, and raise a family. He also thinks the location has many advantages, including the beauty of the natural settings, good schools, ample recreation opportunities, and giving friends and neighbors looking out for one another.

In addition to the SCCF Board of Directors, Chris is the President of the Fremont Redevelopment Commission, serves on the Board of Directors for Little Lambs Pre-School and Daycare, the Fremont Housing Authority, the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce, and committees of the Fremont United Methodist Church. He has previously served on Boards of the Cameron Memorial Community Hospital Foundation, Steuben County Economic Development Corporation, Steuben County United Way, Steuben County Fiber Network, and was a Football Coach at Fremont High School for nearly 20 years.

Chris and his wife, Tina, have been married for 42 years. They have two grown children, Carrie and Alex, and 3 grandchildren. In their free time, Chris and Tina enjoy their roles as grandparents and spending time with family and friends.
