JoAnna Ness

Communications Director

“I’m constantly inspired by stories of passionate donors, innovative nonprofits, and motivated community members. I love that my job is to share exciting news and celebrate these achievements!”

JoAnna grew up nearby in the Ligonier area. Her experiences in youth philanthropy sparked her passion for getting involved in the nonprofit sector.

JoAnna’s interest in addressing community needs with a positive attitude and practical training led her to Indiana University for a Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Philanthropic Studies at the IU Lilly Family School of Philanthropy. Along the way, JoAnna gained experience working with a wide variety of foundations, including the Community Foundation of Noble County, Parkview Noble Hospital Foundation, Indiana University Foundation, and Smithville Charitable Foundation.

JoAnna first joined the Steuben County Community Foundation as a summer intern. In 2018, she joined the staff full-time as the Communications Director. JoAnna is responsible for supporting the Steuben County nonprofit community and highlighting the many ways SCCF donors and grantees make a positive impact. JoAnna is also responsible for managing SCCF’s youth philanthropy group, FIST, which stands for Forever Improving Steuben County Together.

In her free time, JoAnna enjoys traveling, gardening, baking sweet treats, and spending time with family. Her favorite part about Steuben County is the many hiking trails and nature preserves that can be enjoyed by the public.

You can get in touch with JoAnna regarding donor and grant stories or nonprofit capacity building by emailing or calling SCCF at 260-665-6656.
