Meet the team

Sandy Ferrell

“The best part of working at the foundation is the people who come here. They’re happy to be here, and happy to talk to you.”

Sandy Ferrell has been answering questions and making sure that things run smoothly at SCCF for 17 years now. She grew up on a farm near Pleasant Lake and attended Angola High School. Before becoming the office manager at SCCF, Sandy worked for the county government. The experience she gained there is useful in her current role at the foundation, where she helps make sure we do everything according to the rules, always remain ethical, and do our best to help the nonprofits and donors who depend on us.

Sandy has many roles from financial assistant, processing accounts payables and grants, to answering phones and greeting visitors, to taking meeting minutes; she is a jack of all trades in the office.

In her free time, Sandy enjoys biking long distances and hiking. She has her Master Gardener’s certification, and she has taken handgun safety courses and hunting and fishing safety courses through the Sheriff’s Department and the DNR, respectively. She also works part-time at the Angola City Police Dispatch.

Sandy enjoys spending time with her four children, 16 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Traveling to see her family has taken Sandy to some exciting places, including a trip to see the Christmas markets in Germany when she visited her son. During the warmer months, you’ll find Sandy outside gardening, hiking, and biking.

Sandy’s favorite part about living in Steuben County is the small-town atmosphere, where people are friendly and you can enjoy plenty of space and fresh air.

You can contact Sandy by calling 260-665-6656 or emailing her at sferrell@steubenfoundation.org. You can also stop by the foundation during office hours – visitors are always welcome!
