TLC House Steuben & Women in Transition Receive Unrestricted Grants
The Steuben County Community Foundation’s Women’s Fund has awarded TLC House Steuben and Women in Transition with unrestricted grants of $16,650 each. The surprise announcement was made during a special after-hours event on Thursday, August 1st, attended by Executive Directors and Board Members from both organizations.
The recipients were invited to the Steuben Count Community Foundation after hours, where they were greeted by members of SCCF’s Women’s Fund Committee and SCCF staff. The event featured a check presentation ceremony followed by a celebratory gathering with cupcakes.
The Chair of the SCCF Women’s Fund Committee shared that the committee was thoroughly impressed with how frugal both organizations are and that they can truly stretch every dollar, the committee trusts that these funds will be maximized to their full potential.
Executive Director of TLC House Steuben expressed gratitude, stating, “We weren’t expecting anything like this!” shared Mada Waldrop, “We mainly hoped that any funds would be unrestricted because that’s where we need help the most.” She shares that her board plans to make improvements to their building to better serve more women in Steuben County.
Similarly, the Executive Director of Women in Transition commented, “We were totally surprised!” Shelly Grant continues, “We’ve been piecing together repairs, now we can totally fix a few things.”
