Steuben County Community Foundation offers scholarships for traditional students and adult learners pursuing further education and training. Families often establish these scholarships in memory of a loved one or by individuals who wish to support students entering a specific career path.

General Scholarships
Review the complete list of available scholarships to see which opportunities you are eligible for before applying.
Unless otherwise stated, general scholarships are open for applications from November 1 to January 15 of each school year. Students submit an online application through our scholarship portal. Each scholarship has its own unique requirements. This may include county of residence, GPA, additional essay questions, specific colleges or types of college, etc. A committee of volunteers reviews all scholarship applications. Award decisions are announced in late spring.

Vocational Scholarships
We offer vocational scholarships for high school students and adult Steuben County residents. These scholarships provide assistance to residents of Steuben County seeking educational opportunities that are not typically a four-year bachelor’s degree. For residents who are considering vocational or trade school, a certificate program, apprenticeship, skills-building courses for work including computer instruction, a secondary language, etc., this is the perfect opportunity.
Angola Vocational Training Initiative
The Angola Vocational Training Initiative Scholarship is for Steuben County residents with a high school diploma or high school equivalency who want to obtain certification required for professional advancement at their current Steuben County employer, or who desire to become certified in a high-demand skill to be hired by a Steuben County employer.
Steuben County Vocational Education Scholarship
The Steuben County Vocational Education Scholarship is available for Steuben County residents seeking some form of vocational training. In addition to graduates, current high school students are eligible to apply for this funding.
These scholarships have rolling due dates, so applications are accepted throughout the year. Interested applicants must complete an eligibility quiz. If you are eligible to apply for the scholarship, use access code AngolaVoc to begin your application.
Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program
The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program was established in 1998 by Lilly Endowment Inc. to help raise the level of educational attainment in Indiana. The scholarship covers a full four-year tuition and an annual stipend for books and equipment.

The Board of Directors makes all final decisions on scholarship recipients, but they utilize a committee of volunteers to review the applications and make recommendations.

The scholarship season begins in November and ends in January. After board approval, notification will be sent in May to scholarship award winners. Funds are awarded directly to the College or University the student plans to attend.

Donors have established scholarships at SCCF that support students from many backgrounds pursuing various careers. As you begin your application process, you will be asked questions to match you with the scholarships that you qualify for.

A scholarship can be used for educational expenses as outlined by the IRS. If a scholarship has a specific purpose, it will be outlined on the scholarship’s cover page. Most scholarships at SCCF are for tuition costs.

Some SCCF scholarships have donor restrictions that only allow graduating high school seniors to be eligible. However, many scholarships are also open to non-traditional students. This includes students who have earned the Indiana High School Equivalency Diploma (GED), are currently attending college, or adults who have been out of school for a while (with or without college credit) and wish to return.

No. College scholarship payments are mailed directly to the school’s financial aid office. Your scholarship check will be made payable to the educational institution.

The use of AI is prohibited. SCCF requires each applicant to complete their own scholarship application. Applicants must not allow anyone else to write any part of their application, except for the required letters of recommendation. This means they cannot get help from parents, hire someone else, or use AI tools for anything other than basic spelling and grammar checks.
