Cultivating Calm in Crisis: De-escalation Techniques for Real-World Situations by Professor Chelsea Superczynski. Chelsea Superczynski is in her 14th year in education. She is currently an Assistant Professor at Trine University in the Franks School of Education. As a member of the Trine faculty, Chelsea teaches a variety of education related courses, including multiple Special Education courses, Culturally Responsive Teaching, and Children's Literature. Prior to working at Trine University, Chelsea previously taught kindergarten, kindergarten special education, first grade, and third grade in Indianapolis Public Schools and in Lakeland School Corporation. Chelsea has also served as the assistant principal at Parkside Elementary, as well as the assistant principal at Lakeland Jr/Sr High, located in LaGrange, Indiana. In 2021, Chelsea was named the Indiana Association of School Principal’s District #3 Assistant Principal of the Year. Chelsea received a Masters degree in K-12 Education Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University, and another Masters in English Education (Secondary) from Marian University. In addition, Chelsea holds licenses for K-12 Mild Interventions, K-6 Elementary Education, and 5-12 Language Arts. In addition, Chelsea has received micro-credentialing in the areas of social-emotional learning, high ability, and cultural mastery.
