The Ralph E. Taylor Conservation Fund at SCCF is providing an exciting opportunity for schools to move the classroom outdoors. LaGrange, Steuben, Noble, and DeKalb County schools can apply for materials to create or enhance an outdoor learning environment for students K-12. There is great value in outdoor spaces that offer room for social distancing with intangible benefits of being in nature. The goal is to provide a natural habitat for animals, native plants/trees, seedlings, or other permanent materials that students will use to be educated while experiencing nature on school grounds. Additional learning environment materials may include a courtyard, garden, walking path, or outdoor seating.
School superintendents in the four-county area were given instructions on how to access the grant application. To read about a previous grant example from this fund, click here: https://steubenfoundation.org/flint-springs-elementary-outdoor-courtyard-grant-story/
