“Magic of the Run” Kevin Heller Memorial Scholarship
Kevin Heller was an avid runner throughout his lifetime, he began his running career at Prairie Heights running Track and Cross Country. He also enjoyed doing magic in his free time with his wife Robin in their show “Midway of Magic”. Because of Kevin’s appreciation of magic and running, the memorial scholarship fund “Magic of the Run” was created by his lifelong friend, Randy Houser.
According to Randy, Kevin was a resilient and determined man that always found the bright side of every situation. Each year, the two would run to The Team Schlem 5K in honor of Charles Schlemmer who was tragically killed by a drunk driver while riding his bike. This race is what inspired Randy to start a fund in honor of Kevin. Randy created the Magic of the Run Memorial Scholarship to keep Kevin’s memory alive in the community and at the school where they ran together. Each year, the Magic of the Run Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Prairie Heights senior looking to further their education. Steuben County will continue to remember Kevin Heller through this scholarship.
