“Serving our community has been my lifelong passion. As a member of the team at Steuben County Community Foundation, I am able to apply my knowledge and love for our community in a new meaningful way.”

Carmyn Hottell is a Steuben County native with a deep knowledge and love of our community. She is a graduate of Angola High School where she was awarded the 2011 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship. During her time at Valparaiso University, she served on the executive board of a service fraternity managing fellowship and community projects. After earning her B.A. in Sociology and Communications she served as an Indiana State Trooper in our area for over seven years.
Carmyn began working at SCCF as the Director of Community Engagement and Leadership in November of 2022. Her career change was prompted by a desire to connect with the community in a different capacity. She had seen firsthand the needs that exist here and wanted to find a new way to actively be involved in providing resources. Carmyn has seen the accomplishments of people who actively work together to meet a goal. She is excited to build and foster relationships with community members, nonprofits, schools, businesses, and more.
Outside of her work at SCCF, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Mason, and their four dogs. Together they love spending time on the area lakes, hiking, hunting, and traveling.
